Recognisable by its brightly coloured nose art covering the entire nose turret, the 44-6009 was a B-17G whose fate was fairly typical of the B-17s then in production. It ended the war with 28 missions to its credit, having made a forced landing on the continent following the raid on Mainz on 4 December 1944. It was eventually scrapped at Kingman, like hundreds of other surviving B-17s, in December 1945. In today’s alternate history scenario, I simply wanted to depict the encounter between a well-known B-17G, with its interesting nose art, and a Me-262 HG III as we might have seen them in 1946, had the war continued.
I hope you like it!
