No Time For Caution

The French FREMM 'Provence' (D652) is in a very tough situation. Despite jamming, decoys, potentially anti-missiles and evasive manoeuvers, the incomming, sea-skimming AS-4 'Kitchen' Russian anti-ship missile appears to not have changed its course. For most of first-line warships, artillery remains the last line of defense, and this frigate makes no exception : last chance before impact is to destroy the incoming missile in the air with its 76-mm Super Rapid main gun and 20-mm Narwahl chain gun. Even one of the side 12,7-mm M2HB machine gun is desperately fired, even if the possibility of intercepting a sea-skimming missile with such a gun is very small!

This was a very interesting project to work on, from finding the dramatic composition of such a scene to painting every small details of the ship, adding the smokes, firing, missiles and light reflection ... I even added an alternate version with the depiction of the fired rounds!
